I am with you all the way, David, on this one.
However, there IS a slight (but important) differnce between using 'String' to measure tracking and camber!
Yes: both produce 'relative' angles. However, the EFFECTIVE tracking 'adjusts itself' to give EXACTLY the same 'ToeIn/Out' when the kart is rolling (assuming all other things are equal). That's NOT he same for Camber. It REMAINS at the 'relativistic' angle even when you are driving it (assuming all things remain equal).
That's why I'd argue for using a tape between a fixed item on the other side of the chassis and the 'tyre' to set camber.
I fully accept that such an approach is NOT perfect as it assumes the item you use as the FIXED position may be the thing that really IS bent... I.e., the bottom of the opposite side king pin.
The 'flat floor' is just about the ONLY way to do it RIGHT!
