That's not exactly fair on the lad, is it?
We are talking about ROTAX, here! He is (in REALITY) BANNED from rebuildnghis own engine! If he does, he has to have it re-sealed and, if ANYONE does it in a Khosher manner, that means it has to be FULLY stripped and each component re-weighed. The engine is then rebuilt by the 'sealer' and there is ABSOLUTELY NO REQUIREMENT for him to rebuild it as meticulously as it ARRIVED in their hands! A sight mis-alignment of the barrel, carb mis-alignment, exhaust flange misalignment and he will have lost up to 5% of his POWER!
Although, I too, am shocked by the simple lack of basic 'mecahnic's knowledge' today, if they are in Rotax, then you can hardly BLAME them for NOT having it!
