Ask yourself this question. If you approached an engine builder who runs his own team (several to choose from!), do you honestly think that you will get the best that he has? I think not, you'll get

I have taken this from another post, what do you lot think?

I personally think that engine builders shoudn't be allowed to run their own teams for the simple reason that they want to be the quickest, imagine you drop your engine in for a re-build and dyno and it shows to be quicker than any of his engines, it would be very tempting to alter something to slow it down.
I'm not saying this happens and there does have to be trust between builders and racers, BUT , if it was happening we woudn't even know.
