The rev limiter is to stop the engine revving over 16,900 if you loose a chain.

Obviously, if your gearing is such that a "normal" BT82 would rev over 16,900 then the limiter will prevent you from doing so.

In "normal" use you wouldn't be revving over 16,900 anyway.
