We have a new barrel on a 3 series bottom end, a brand new motor with new barrel and a 6200 series with old barrel. All 3 motors are on 51.2mm bore the 2 new ones have the slightest edge over the old one. Maximum 1/10. If we had to race with our old barrel engine for any reason we would not be disappointed. Don't buy a new barrel if you are looking for half seconds. Driving lessons or tracktime will gain far more. This is a general statement no insult intended.
