Checked the carb last night and the main jet was actually 162. So can't see why it would be running lean with K98 needle at clip position 3. (Conditions were 14 degC, 1016mbar and 55%)
The battery is fairly new and used about 5 or 6 times. Will attach a leisure battery tonight and check if there is much difference in the spark, although think it's about time I got a spare.
As having the float height at 3mm is not a reason for the mis-fire on it's own I'll leave the float height as it is and get the engine running properly before experimenting.
The engine has done about 20 hrs (estimate as bought second -hand) and 10 hrs since engine serviced, getting a new ring at that time... I'm holding off getting the engine rebuilt until my son sits his ARKS test! Could the mis-fire be due to engine being in need of a rebuild?
