Let him get on with the SL6's, no one will scrutineer him for the ARKS, when it comes to your first meeting you can get him some fresh rubber.

If I was you I'd go down to the track on race days and ask/buy from someone their throw away tyres. They'll be plenty good for your son's driving/learning and you'll be making good use of rubber which otherwise would be thrown away. Good for the environment (and your pocket). You only need fresh rubber for racing and most people are glad to give them away rather than having to take care of their disposal.
