Agree on your first point about Paul and his continuing efforts to detect/catch those guilty of blatant cheating.
And yes, while there are lots and lots of whingers in life some of whom do 'contribute' to this site, the fact is that even if as you suggest they spend 'more time' on their racing - what makes you think they will overcome the cheats every time. If someone 'cheating' suffers a mechanical or comes off and retires just as someone who isn't cheating can/does - then they will suffer the same fate/result as anyone else.
But if a good un as in a 'non cheat' is directly in front or directly behind a bad un as in 'someone who is cheating and therefore gaining an unfair advantage' AND they don't come off etc - then statistically the bad un will finish in front of the good un more times than the other way round.
But back to the original thread and the comment about PF, Junior Max etc. Anyone at Kartmasters last year could see/hear what was going on. Paul was not on duty that weekend and admitted afterwards that the bar test they did was inadmissable and should not have been carried out. It didn't help when 2 juniors were found to fail to clutch test only to be let off and that's fact not fiction. Ironically neither featured on the podium so you might say that was the right result.
Whether the new regs etc make it easier or more difficult for people to cheat is irrelevant to me. I know Paul and his colleagues will continue to do all they can to identify the culprits and can only work within the letter of the regs/law. If harder punishments are needed to deter offenders (gets my vote) then that is something for the governing bodies and despite the fact that we've 'retired' from the sport, I hope the review announced by the MSA will look at every facet including what happens when someone is found to be guilty of cheating and bringing the sport into disrepute. So carry on the good work Paul and here's to whoever wins the championships doing so 'clean!'
