Rotax New Cylinders: The ABkC wishes to clarify the situation regarding the new Rotax cylinder. The performance target for the new cylinders is to reach the performance level of existing good cylinders. The new cylinders can be retrofitted to all existing ROTAX MAX engines on the market. The new senior Max cylinder (part No. 223 993) is now available as a spare part and on new engines and is eligible to be used for racing in the U.K. as soon as the MSA have issued the revised fiche, expected to be from 20.03.09.
The new junior Max cylinder (part No. 223994) is now on limited availability as a spare part and on new engines. But until there are sufficient cylinders available to satisfy the market, these new junior cylinders may only be sealed with ‘Rotax’ seals (not UK seals) in order that they may be raced in the Euro Challenge. New junior cylinders may not be sealed with UK ‘JAG’ seals for UK racing until further notice, expected to be in early May. The revised fiche will be available from the MSA. Issued: 19.03.09
