When you want to change the wadding just drill out the three little rivets in the silencer(easy), pull out the centre baffle (long perforated tube), remove all the old wadding (all of it!!), check the baffle for damage and if necessary replace(they do break), wrap the new wadding tightly around the baffle and reinsert. Three small nuts and bolts through the drilled out rivet holes and the jobs done. Have a look at someones exhaust on your next track visit. As John says it does affect performance so do it on a regular basis.
