Speaking for my son who is very good in the wet, if you get someone who is smooth and almost metronomic then results likes this are not unusual. Tyre degradation also comes into it. We raced at Bayford a few years ago and the winner of a particular heat was the best part of 2 seconds A LAP quicker than anyone else because he had the perfect/optimum tyre. He wasn't cheating because he didn't cheat - period. When we went back to slicks we qere quicker than him even though he beat us in the final.
If you look at other results over the weekend - ironically also in Junior Max, then the lad who won Kimbolton by almost 9 seconds was the best part of a second down the road from the next quickest and he did the 6 quickest laps in the final. Wasn't there and don't know the lad at all but I'm guessing he hasn't got the CV that the Rowrah winner has and there were plenty of very good/quick drivers at Kim including last year's GP plate, Alex Magee who did very well in Seniors at last month's Winter Cup and other very quick club/local drivers. Unless I've missed it (AND I'M NOT TRYING TO START A NEW THREAD - HONEST!) then not seen anything about that result.
Clearly with the advent of S1 things will 'hot' up and I just hope that after the clutch issues in particular in 2008, that the officials and scrutineers are all geared up for what I believe/hope will be a good season.
Any speculation at this point is purely that and if officials are checking regularly and diligently then that's all one can expect. If others want to infer deliberately or not then that's for them and ultimatley if someone feels 'hard done by' then we all know the procedure.
good luck to all.
