50:50 sounds MUCH too far forward..... in MY opinion!
If you are between that and 45:55 then I think we have discovered the problem.....as we suspected!
Over the years, most people have recommended between 45:55 and 40:60. Personally, I've always found that 40:60 is correct for 'me' in the dry but nearer to 45:55 in the wet (to remove the understeer).
If you are 'short' (as Michael says), I assume you are light, too (you lucky B*GG*R!). In that case, do an experiment of moving some of the lead further back, even if it means making a temporary mounting point. That will be easier than moving the seat at THIS stage. If your lead is not already on the back of the seat, you may want to try moving it there.
Finally, if you ARE short, you probably have a VERY low CofG. In that case, I'd move the weight UP the kart (higher in the seat) and consider RAISING your seat. All of these ideas will mitigate some of your 'problem'!
