Hi, I have a Senior TKM Extreme which I recently purchased 2nd hand and have a couple of questions about the engine mounts.
They are slightly different to my friend's TKM and what seems to be the 'standard' mounts available - rather than the bottom mounts bolting directly into the top part of the bracket (which is fixed to the engine), the bottom mounts fasten onto a middle plate. This middle plate is then bolted to a top plate, which is attached to the engine. This top plate is wedge shaped and its position can be adjusted forwards and backwards on the middle plate before the bolts are tightened.
Does anyone have any experience of using this type of mount? If so should I leave the bottom and middle parts of the mount alone and just adjust the top plate to tension the chain whenever possible? The chain tensioning bolt only affects the middle plate, if the top plate is not in its most rearward position is there a risk that the top plate could become loose and make the chain go slack or does the design of the plates somehow stop this? Also, are there any advantages of this design over the 'standard' design?
Cheers.
