Unfortunately this is very true. Whether it be on good kit or time in the seat. We have had quite a succesful year coming fourth in stars but it took a lot of time and a lot of money. Mac has raced every weekend except two this year with a lot of good results using a lot of good equipment, however, at the last clay meeting we strugled for pace all weekend and were about three tenths off the front runners, the result was we were racing for sixth place not first, the problem, we found out at a later test at llandow was a brand new exhaust that was six tenths slower round llandow than an old one I had taken off because it was full of carbon. My point is you need to have the best you can afford to be up the front but you still need to spend the time testing it
