I said that it was necessary to buy at least one brand new chassis per season, possibly two, if you're planning on being a front runner in a competitive national championship. This is not to have the current year's stickers on the kart, its to have a fresh frame under you. Its to do with wear and tear on the kart. A chassis that's clocked up several seasons of heavy racing and testing will not handle as well as a fresh frame.

Maybe consider looking at it another way. Go to the next Super 1 round and see how many of the top 5 are using 4 year old rigs... then go up to them and tell them what you've told us... that rather than buy a 2008 chassis they should get themselves a 2004 chassis and find the delta to their adversaries by taking different lines.
