Hmm, a bit of topic this, but:
Well, it does appear to be a case of transitioning into retirement, at least. Happens to all of us. The antiquated nature of this place meant it never stood a chance of attracting young people, much less retaining any initial interest they might have had. Hence it has, for quite some time, been ‘home’ only to a dwindling number of karting dads and assorted other old-timers who look in here out of habit.
The other place – where this has also been discussed as you know – is of course much more modern, and it consequently did much better for several years. Now, however, interest in karting-specific forums appears to be vanishing across the board. Where are all the karting youngsters? I can only presume they are using more general social media platforms instead. Because there must be younger people just as excited about and interested in all aspects of their chosen hobby as in the past.
It’s clearly a similar situation in the US: https://ekartingnews.com/forums/topic/forums-dying/ .
The leading German karting forum – which has been a great source of advance information (e.g. the pre-launch leak of all the key info on the Rotax EVO) – on the other hand, still seems to be doing quite well.
Speaking of that Rotax news, remember this: http://www.karting1.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17247&highlight=prepare+wallets - a single topic with 923 replies and 181,000 views! Not even 4 years ago.
How many people are even reading this very discussion? Fewer than a dozen, I suspect.
As for the Chelsea drugstore, I’m embarrassed to admit that I had to look it up – like most of us, I must have heard that song thousands of times. Guess I’d better start listening, not just hearing.
