Of course it is - usually by the same people who have dodgy engines; specialist chassis - in fact anyone who looks quick!!!!!

Joking aside, it has been used and people have been caught by various clubs. It would be foolish to try it at S1 where tyres are held between races because they are very likely to do some tests.
