Thanks for clarifying, although I note that the ABkC is responsible for the Gold Book which stipulates the relevant rules (eg the need for "Formula TKM" to be moulded in the side walls).
I notice that you have also dropped the requirement for Cadet wets to have "RAC" moulded, which suggests that they can now be sourced from Europe. I wonder if it might have been worthwhile bringing this potentially significant saving to the attention of the competitors, who have other issues with the UK-specific slick tyre?
(If the slicks are available elsewhere, it would be interesting to see how much they cost to get delivered to the UK)
It is difficult to see how you can deny that the ABkC is involved, although it's interesting that you are trying to put distance between the ABkC and these arrangements.
By "their" championships, are you referring to the "ABkC National Championships" for Rotax and TKM classes?
This whole topic - without getting into immense detail - is just one example of the type of result you get from a lack of transparency on the part of the ABkC; unwillingness to engage with the competitor community; archaic rules which appear to be inconsistent with the law and a general reluctance to allow dissenting voices to be heard.
The lesson for competitors remains: you're entitle d not to get involved, but don't complain when you get something you really didn't want or ask for (eg cadet slicks that only last 1 meet).
And the ABkC can't complain when their own decisions cause numbers to continue to dwindle.
