We’re driving out to Italy, combining our summer holiday with testing at South Garda Karting.
Our departure date is the 22nd of July, arriving on the 23rd. probably heading home on Saturday the 5th August, getting us home for Sunday evening. In the past we’ve done several trips like this to Campillios in Spain, although usually these have been at Easter. Generally we aim to test during the week and chill and do the tourist stuff at the weekends because the tracks tend to be busier with corporate’s and the locals at the weekends. Often we’re all tested out by just after dinner (quiet track and open pit-lane), so afternoons and evenings are also available for chilling out/or doing other more tourist stuff. We’ve found that this combination makes an enjoyable family break, as well as giving a great period of testing.
The Lake Garda area of Italy is beautiful and a popular holiday region in its own right. There are plenty of accommodation options, from eurocamp style parks, to independently rented villas and apartments.
Approx. costs are: Ferry, return via Calais £200 per vehicle.
Fuel approx. £300 per vehicle
Track Fees 45 Euro/Day
Accommodation approx. £800 per week for a 4/5 person apartment, so from approx. £200 p/w per person.
Why am I posting this, well its not to brag about our planned holiday! The best trips previously are when we’ve gone with another karting family, as this makes the track sessions much better. The family we went with last time have switched to cars. So I thought I’d see if anyone else fancies a sneaky two week test, coming home in time for the TKM festival (or other races)with 20+ test hours in their pocket!
Options are various:
I have space for at least one extra kart and/or an extra body. Also S J Motorsports intend going. I’m sure they can offer a variety of options from kart transportation, track-side support to full arrive and drive options. Despite ourselves and S J being involved in TKM, the track is suitable for all classes of kart and S J are experienced with and have available most class of kart including Iame Cadet, Rotax and X30. So if interested, I’d contact them directly to discuss options.
