Location will be very important because you will have to clash with a venture somewhere.
I think drivers prefer fast tracks that flow and depending on the average speed it needs to be a 45+ sec lap, but if I were building a new track I would want to it to be approx 1300-1400 meters with underlatation like GYG. PFI has raise the standards and everyone should try and emulate their facilities, but a lot of drivers get bored driving there because the corner radius are all very similar. Having no two corners the same should be the goal.
On another note try and build south facing and prevent any buildings shading the track especially corners. PFI last corner and GYG first corner can make the track useless on certain days.
