Rob, how to spot the cheats. Well considering that cadet engines have so little power any error in driving has an impact on time, so if a kid is missing entry apex and exit and also milking the wheel like a cows udder he is cheating. If the driver isnt late on the brakes turning in correctly, taking the apex and letting the kart run then he is cheating. As for what they are doing the list is endless, treating wet tyres is common in winter if one kid is going round in the wet like he is on rails and everyone else is struggling he has treated the tyres, there is no such thing as good set of wets, we tested 20 sets of wets and didnt find anything in the tyres. And if they come off the grid and put a time in second lap in the wet and there time doesnt fall off they are cheating. As for mechanical there are so many things that get done that the scrutineers dont pick up. There are drivers in Super 1 and LGM weighing 108kg and still able to be faster than Harry Thompson and bearing in mind everyone at that level has an outstanding engine. Fuel tampering is regular scrutineers know it is and are not able to catch them, restrictors are being modified the list is endless. Basically at Super 1 LGM level the dads are spending upwards of £20k some are spending more than that on a full time mechanic alone, if they get caught they appeal with an expensive £5k barrister who is up against the MSA scruntineer who is not qualified to take on a barrister and then loses and most times it is through in correct paperwork being filled out not mechanical cheating. I could go on and on Rob, but basically the rich dads want to win so much and the teams/mechanics earn so much money from them the rules are bound to be stretched. What tracks you at rob and what you racing?
