The rubber is a labyrinth type seal, I top up to just under this. To bleed the brakes is straight forward, just press down the brake peddle while opening the bleed nipple on the caliper. With brake peddle held down, nip up the bleed nipple. Continue until new, non aerated fluid comes out of the bleed nipple. Repeat for any other bleed nipples,on the capper keeping an eye on the fluid level in the master cylinder.
