I think, as per the post above, "they" could find a way of excluding you but probably only "if" they thought you'd gained an advatage by doing it. I'm guessing it's not something they'd ever look for unless someone started pointing the finger.
Certainly, again as per the post above, you wouldn't be allowed to do any machining to correct any problems with misalignment of bearings etc. But you could be lucky and everything lined up enough, not to be an issue. Certainly you'd have more chance on an Iame than some other more utilitarian engines.
The question, though would be why, unless you had two dead bottom ends and we're trying to make one good one. Or by selecting parts, you could possible have greater or lower crankcase volume but if advantage were found and people realised, then yes, the scrutneers would then probably come looking and a rule clarification would probably then follow.
