I've just had a message from one of my drivers who was racing J Rotax at Forest Edge at the weekend. Never mind the cost of the tyres, one of his competitors ended up with a broken shoulder (in TESTING FFS!) and Ben himself went through two axles, two track rods and a steering column. This on top of a radiator last month.
At the moment IKR seems better, because it's not attracting the hooligans in our area. However, if it gains popularity and MSA wanes I fear we will merely shift our problems.
If MSA could take a real stand against this sort of driving, the cost of tyres would be a sideshow compared to the savings made in damage repairs and may save the sport for them.
We only have to watch the latest Euro F3 rounds to see that young hotshoes (hotheads?) are carrying on their karting style of driving in cars. And we wonder why grids are falling!
