Just been at Teeside at the weekend supporting my lad's uni kart team - H Karts from Huddersfield Uni. They won the 8 round Club 100 British Universities Kart Championship (BUKC) in 2015 beating a strong Oxford uni team, whom have won it 4 times before. The Northern underdog won it. BUKC A top very competitive championship run by Club 100 with approx. 100 teams running for uni's all over the country with some top drivers. This weekend gone was the separate BUKC 24HR run at Teeside by EKL. 44 teams with teams of 2 drivers to 12 drivers. Huddersfield had 10 drivers (bit too many for min. driver changes) and despite chain off, tyre off, about 5 crashes some quite scary (50 MPH backwards into marshalls post), we came 10th, got close to fastest lap, raced in torrential rain, dark (partial floodlights failure!!). Was running in top 5 until the above problems and more driver changes than smaller teams. But all in all a great weekend. Over a 1000 laps on the large full circuit, about 2500KM, about 2 - 3 hours sleep each. Can't wait for next season of BUKC to start - so much more fun than MSA cheque book racing.
