“end of the day all we want to see is these guys in 24 identical ff1600's (you can overtake with those) drawn out of a hat and race without pit stops at a great track such as brands/spa/brazil. THEN we would see who's best. now that might draw some interest back from spectators shunning f1 in their droves.bernie?”
That isn’t what f1 is about though. And how would it attract money to the same extent?
F1 was/is an exercise in engineering the best solution to a given set of ‘rules’.
Paying good drivers to give an advantage detracts from the technical part.
F1 needs to be viewed as a team ‘sport’ with the drivers’ championship firmly secondary.
A true drivers’ championship can only ever have a single make/engine but where is the interest going to come from?
Money brings interest and hence more money. The old days of race on Sunday, sell on Monday aren’t applicable anymore. Advertising doesn’t have to be based in fact and most people don’t have the time or common sense to care any longer.
