Jon, my point is that if you are concerned about insurance then you should ask the circuit in question, rather than casting aspersions here about the whole of IKR. As has been pointed out previously, there is generally barely any difference in entry fees between MSA and IKR meetings. In fact for novices MSA is often cheaper. The circuits know what they're doing and cutting corners on insurance to save a few quid on entry fees wouldn't be a good idea.
As Russell points out, the fag packet calculation statement is nonsense as it depends entirely on the number of entries. You could show a big loss or a big profit depending on the figure you put in. And yes, some IKR meetings will run at a loss, just as some MSA meetings are currently. Arrive and drive on the other hand is highly profitable, so that's where the circuits will go if we can't get the owner drivers back.
Both MSA and IKR should be supported by us as they both have a role to play in putting karting back on its feet.
