So will these regulations kill Junior TKM ?
Let's say we havea JTKM race, all within weight limits. In JTKM 123 we have a 40 kg driver and 83 kg kart and racing against a JTKM 148 with a 70 kg driver and 80 kg kart.
Fromn the safety "reason" stated in the proposed regulations it seems the proposals are to limit the weight of a kart if the driver is underneath the kart.
This gives three prime scenarios for the JTKM 128 ... let's assume 100% lever force; /1/ driver pinned under own kart; thus 40 vrs 83 kg. /2/ driver pinned under other driverless kart; thus 50 vrs 80 kg. /3/ driver pinned under other kart with driver; 40 vrs 150 kg.
Scenario (3) is the most likey of the three, and , the driver to kart+driver ratio is a whoppingly 1:3.75
So the MSA's new regulation, fails its own safety intent.
The only way to correct this is to (a) split up the JTKM classes into separate races. (b) do not allow mixed classes where scenarios /2/ or /3/ could occur.
