Your suggestions have some merit but could also put people off taking up the sport.
What happens is a dad/lad starter team on a tight budget are held liable for an incident which writes off a new chassis or causes damage to one of the super expensive engines.
Dad may not be able to pay so does it go to small claims court?
That is obviously a worst case scenario. Would CoC go more for a racing incident if there was several hundred pounds of damages at stake - would it lead to far more appeals right through to the MSA Court?
I remember a race at Shenington where my lad and another were battling for the lead. They came round Cafe corner and a back marker novice was in the middle of the track going a lot slower. My lad passed the novice on his right hand side whilst the other lad passed the other side. The Novice saw my lad first and instinctively turned the wheel and wiped out the other lad causing some damage to his kart and ending his race.
What action do you take then?
