Although TKM grids are down, I have raced against 9 or 10 other TKM drivers in MSA meetings at Hooton Park and Wombwell in the last year. To my knowledge not a single driver was running with a team. Most were pretty competitive on the track, and seemed to have a kart that was capable of running pretty close to the pace. When people had problems with a kart, or were off the pace, we helped each other out. Sound familiar Russ? ;)
Big teams don't need banning. If people help one another at club meetings, running with a team becomes unnecessary for most drivers, but remains an option for others. Rotax Masters at Hooton Park is a really good example of proper club racing without the egos or the big budgets, and I'm betting they'll end up with grids close to 20 karts in 2014 because of it. I really hope the TKM Club Championship has a similar atmosphere. Club karting might have been through a rough patch, but it's not dead yet.
