For me the big problem at the start/first corner is random grids and short races.

Quick kids at the back want/need to get through the pack as early as possible to get a decent result and just off novice plate kids at the front are frequently scared stiff and erratic. End result is a big pile up.

Personally I've never understood the liking for random grids. The argument it teaches the kids to race doesn't really work for me. Teaches them how to load and fire off at the first corner is more the reality.
