A decent manufacturer will have a list of distributors, which they sell their products to. A good distributor should be able to point you to a shop who they sell to which is where you can buy the genuine product. In short if a product hasn't come from the recognized distributor then the product is at high risk of being a fake.

I remember a few years ago that there were some on here saying there was a load of fake D.I.D chains being sold at half the price. They looked identical but chewed up after a single session.
