We ran a Zip (Storm & Lightning) in Comer Cadet with a reasonable degree of success, plenty of wins and a consistent front runner.

Towards the end of our time in cadets we were offered a “Works” drive in a Tonykart which I was very sceptical about for all the reasons mentioned. In the end I worked very with the team and made the kart very competitive after lots of testing however my council would be use it until you are a front runner and then use a Zip as they are MUCH easier to make work.

In simple terms the Tonykart will work but there are lots of set up changes required to cope with the changing track conditions. We managed to get the Kart fastest in the wet and dry against the Super 1 grid at the Brazilian Cup at Whilton Mill only to get smashed off in 2 out of 3 heats but the kart was defiantly on the pace.

Your investment will work fine as long as you can make the set up work, if you are a newbe don’t worry about set up too much and make sure you are on the right sprocket and maybe 2 or 3 PSI lower on pressure than the Zips.
