So glad that people are saying that faster starts are better, I've thought it for years and for the exact reasons discussed. Its as simple as the pendulum effect between getting on the throttle after the guy ahead as he exits the final corner. Gives the guy ahead, half a kart length
With slow starts with the acceleration point on the straight, its easy to simply push the kart ahead with your bumper. You just stay on the throttle and if you mistime it, the guy behind you pushes you anyway.
I've been in starts where I've taken my foot off the throttle and been fully pushed all the way to turn 1.
It needs to be changed, the acceleration point should be in the middle of the final corner onto the straight. This may not be perfect at every track, but the speed into turn 1 will be no faster than it would in a normal race lap. At least you will have a kart length gap between each driver.
