The regulations on this actually got changed for 2004, and pushers were replaced by assistant incident marshals who were supposed to be trained by the club before going on track and have a briefing letter. The regs for 'pushers' was removed. Like all these things clubs gradually became more relaxed about pushers and training asst incident marshals and checking anyone that goes on track is trained. So nothing is changing for MSA regs for 2014, it might be that the club is enforcing the current rules.
