This is a really interesting thread. I think sadly everyone has the impression that non msa karters instantly supertune their engines and thats all there is too it.
Yes that option is open to you so if your a bright lad and can tweak your engine or get someone to do it then so be it.
We all know with a well set up kart and decent driver and engine you can do a good job anyway and apart from a couple of cadets with wtp motors on the w60's are well matched and certainly when we raced cadet there was only one guy tuning his engines and he could still be beaten. He did a bloody good job tuning them too.
Now on the tuning point, that option is open to everyone and soon enough you will have people offering tweaks to all at reasonable costs and a little cottage industry will start up. I might add at this point that i havn't got a clue what to do to tune a tkm or rotax motor or cadet motor but I see no problem with it.
If you have open class racing you cannot be cheating by tweaking your engine. The indikart series at hooton is not perfect but is well run and as the series gains more popularity it will be tweaked. It gives people an oppertunity to race older equipment, do there own rebuilds and choose a really good tyre.
MSA guys leave us alone. We are doing our own thing and are generally happy with whats going on. Concentrate on your racing and we will concentrate on ours.
