Very simple question. How accruate and consistant is your pressure guage?
If you inflate your tyres in a cold damp morning they will have more moisture in them. This will cause a greater rise in pressure as they get to racing temperature. Deflate and re-inflate later in the day when RH is lower.
Do you test the pressure as soon as you come off the circuit?
I have come to the conclusion that the 2012 TKM Maxxis tyre wear far more rapidly than in the past. Some circuits appear to 'destroy' them. Some days on the same circuit appear to 'spoil' them, possible due to the previous class on the circuit. You do not appear to get a 'golden' set that stay good for 100's of laps any more.
The 4 bits of rubber in contact with the track have the greatest effect.
One would hope that a 2012/13 chassis would be better than a 2010. Our 2012 Tony Viper at an eyewatering £1500 plus Vat for frame only, was about 0.2 sec. quicker than the 2011. But were they set identically? Moved the motor and tyres back and forth from chassis to chassis but not the seat...takes too long. 0.2 seconds a lap is not much, but hey, makes you feel that all that wonga was not wasted.
