Everyone has their own view about where you are best to start, but all advice above is valid.
Recommend to take up peoples offers to talk through, and then go away and think. there is a chap called Daryl Burgess who runs a mini and he is worth adding to your list to talk to (find him at shenny with minimax 16 or at clay this sunday) and also Mike Wellington (for TKm this weekend also at clay). There is a chap at clay who ran Minis and then went TKM. Also worth talking to people in the circuit kart shops as well as some club people.
Suggest you think of the following: How am i going to get to circuit Who will do the spannering Where do i keep the kart. what tools and safety equipement will i need to buy (helmet etc), wet weather gear. Kit for circuit: generator? gazebo? or will i run with a mechanic or a team. Where will i race (price entry and club membership) What will the Kart and engine cost to buy and what is the maintenance/damage cost Cost of race tyres/ how long do they last? At least you will have an idea of cost. Dont buy anything from anyone until you have done your homework.
its a good time to look as people are changing classes soon. Hope this helps. Call in at shenny if you like Mini 38 pit bay 28
