With a big end failure there is nothing left to determine the cause of the failure point.
It is my understanding that Tal-ko has had new big end pins manufactured that are thicker and have undergone additional heat treatments. I am not aware of any failures of the new big ends, despite truely enormous revs at the recent Shenington SuperPrix with tail wind and a tow.
The 'older' ones, if they are going to fail usually go around 4 hours after fitting. This should enable TKM racers time to have the big end replaced.
It is regretable that these failures have occured (not for me fortunately) but Tal-ko has taken positive action rather than a continental shrug of the shoulders.
