I've seen 2 people set light to the kart and themselves filling the petrol tank whilst smoking. I think we should ban smoking anywhere at the circuit or in the paddock on safety grounds.

This topic comes up on a regular basis and it always appears to me that the people most concerned about this topic have nothing to do with cadet karting.

Yes the rule needs clarifying or changing. Most clubs seem to take the sensible approach of allowing it as long as the tyres are at 'ambient' temperature on the grid.
