I feel sorry for anybody considering joining the cadet classes or even more so for their parents. It is a big decision for most of us both financially and from a commitment point of view
Most of us started our research into cadet racing by looking at this site and a few others, going to the tracks and talking to the drivers and parents. Unfortunately the current cadet engine saga will be putting off potential new customers at a rapid rate of knots. If somebody is about to part with anything from £500 to £5000 they at least want to understand what they are getting for their money and more importantly how long will it last or will they need to re-invest in the near future.
The MSA are not doing their job of creating stability and encouraging new customers by not setting a clear vision of what the future of Cadet karting looks like and an even worse job of concluding the tender process in order to conclude clarify the last 6 months of uncertainty . Over the last few years the Cadet classes have become ridiculously disjointed and the current forever ongoing tender process has just topped it off.
The decision makers at the MSA could not have done a worse job of creating stability and setting a clear future vision for the first step of motor racing. We now have five sub classes for cadets, numerous British Cadet Champions and to top it all the most common class has been in limbo for 6 months whilst they work out what their criteria really is for selecting the next engine for that class.
Other than politicians most other business people would have been sacked for this level of incompetence.
