John, I know you have lots to do but,
Looking at the forum lately and there seems to be a lack of topics and subjects being discussed to make entering the site worthwhile so;
Was wondering if you could explain or point me in the direction of the MSA rules or SR’s (supplementary regulations) on what constitutes a finishing position in a heat or final and how the points are allocated.
Looked up the Blue and Gold books all I could find was in 12.5.2. Refer to SR’s for classification of a finisher
At the last meeting in the JTKM class it had a mixed grid of club competitors and a visiting championship (NKF), numbers were not great in each but combined made up a good grid.
I believe there were seven ChKRC members and a similar amount in NKF championship competing on the day.
Looking at the clubs championship results section I noticed that two driver’s have been awarded points even though they did not complete some of the heats and the final, one being 4 laps down the other 3 laps down of a 10 lap final. (looking at UK Karting Race Results )
I know how points are awarded on the position you qualify for the final 10,9,8,etc, and thereafter on the position you cross the line / complete the race, 20,18,16,etc.
Surely you must have to finish with in a certain time of the race winner or complete a certain number of laps to be classified, what constitutes a DNF.
(I was asked the questions and could not answer)
P.S. not out on a witch hunt just seems unfair that if you have a bad race day in a big grid you suffer in a championship whereas if you have a similar bad race day in a small grid!!
