some of the road 'furniture' might prove to be a problem for karts. Road signs, lamp posts etc. After seeing the result of a high speed collision between an almost stationary kart and one at full chat at Rowrah MSA S1 last weekend, I'm convinced a kart chassis and driver will come out worst (most likely dead) in any collision with an object concreted to the ground.

Motorcycle road racing in N. Ireland and I.O.M regularly kills even the best riders. They are brave men and women who do it and its thrilling racing but cannot see it happening on mainland UK.
