In the Blue book section H 8.3.1 it says that anyone who held a national B at any time during 2008, 2009 or 2010 can renew without taking another ARKs so it would seem you should be OK.
With the medical you need one for your first application but then have to make an annual declaration so not sure if that will be an issue.
Your best bet is to do as you said and call the MSA on Tuesday.
