I deliberately didn't mention F1, because I don't even consider that a sport anymore. It's just good entertainment, akin to Saturday aftenoon wrestling on world of sport. But as you mention williams and their easily replacable driver component, winning lots of races isn't it?

Furthermore, I don't doubt that there are other much more expensive sports, but for young kids?????? Neither could I care less about adult karting and how much somebody is prepared to spend to win a cheap cup. But kids sport, at least anything worthy of the name sport, should be about finding the best young competitors, especially ones that carry the tag of British Champion. Thus something along the lines of the Eastkart formula should be used to determine the outcome of national competitions. IMHO.
