Hi Ian testing the stiffness of materials is not something we specialise in as there is simply no need for it in my ield. We can however check hardness of materials to Brinell Hardness Test Rockwell Hardness scale Shores,s scleroscope Vickers hardness test Knoop hardness test Monotron hardness indicators I’m sure if I had the time Ian I could design, manufacture and do the math for an accurate way to measure stiffness but I simply don’t have the time and there is no financial gain to be made for us as a company. I would also like to reply to this post in a lot more detail as it is a subject close to my heart but I simply do not have the time Ian hence my all my posts on UK karting are quite short. But that said I can do something for you that may help you out to have a better understanding of the properties of different materials and the different effects certain process can have on them. Are you aware of a book called the Machinery’s hand book often referred to as the engineer’s bible? This is a 3000 page book containing everything you will ever need to know about engineering, I have this on a cd and would be very happy to send you a copy if you wish me to drop me an e mail to andy@absolutemetrology.co.uk so i can get your address to send you a copy Best Regards Andy
