It may sound obvious but, when you put it all back together, build the complete assembly on the bumper, nip the bolts, slide the complete assembly into the chassis then tighten.
So many people put the bolts and rubbers up the rails before mounting the bushes and bumper and make life very difficult for themselves. Also, if your rubbers have split at the ends, use new ones and make sure you use washers also. This will make removing the bumper next time much easier.
A lot of kart maintenance is not about going faster but making life easier when the time comes to replace things between heats (floor tray nuts and bolts for instance). There's nothing worse than a 5 min job turning into a 30 min job for the sake of a £2 part.
