I confess I am in the pro-trophy camp. My son has recently won his first 'proper' trophies in A finals and the impact has been enourmous. It has given him a huge sense of achievement, boosted is self confidence and enthusiasm, and made his family and friends very proud.
I do wonder whether there is scope for the award of a discretionary 'driver of the day' award for the larger classes. I appreciate it would be very subjective and hard to judge, but might provide the opportunity to recognise someone down the grid that has come through a tough day, for example the raw novice that is involved in an accident but has the courage to get back in the kart and complete the meeting, or perhaps a winner that has had a truly exceptional day
