i have just done my daughters helmet in the dyno rod orange.
most paints have been outlawed now so bodyshops use a water based basecoat with a 2k clearcoat.
solvents will not damage a helmet as long as you dont flat through the gel coat.
BUT it will damage the polystyrine and foam in side so make sure that you CAREFULLY mask up all the vents and let it dry naturally, dont bake it.
