As matter of interest who controls the sealing agents. I'm sure in the UK it's done properly and engines are regularly checked independently. But with so much money involved the temptations must be great.
Certainly in France it's not controlled, with 12 'Honda' sealing agents, over 50% of the engines that I've broken somebody elses seal on, I've found to be illegal underneath. In other words the sealing agents are either incompetent or teams are using their sealing agencies as a licence to cheat.
I've even been called into an awning mid-meeting to be asked to work on a sealed engine by a team with a sealing agency.
I'm not chucking any mud in the direction of the UK, just demonstrating how these things can be abused if commercial interest is given free reign.
